BHP Architects was commissioned by London Borough of Enfield to design a new Secondary Tuition Centre on a new 'brownfield' site, to replace the existing provision, which is inefficiently spread across three sites in the Borough with accommodation that is not fit for purpose. The high quality, sustainable new facility enhances learning opportunities for up to 100 secondary school pupils, who for a variety of reasons cannot be educated in mainstream schools. The Orchardside School is offering a range of educational and sporting activities that is also open to the wider community outside of school hours.
The new development in the Bull's Cross conservation area is comprising a single-storey building (with double-height school hall) of 2,583sqm, together with car parking, all-weather games courts and landscaped areas. The building is clad in Siberian Larch externally.
