BHP Architects was appointed by ECC to design and procure a new Model Special School in Basildon, for 90 children in the age range of 3-13 years and 80 pupils in the age range of 14-25 years with SLD and PMLD, as well as for children with ASD and a Respite Care Centre. Phase 1 of the new school was opened in January 2009.
We have also been working with Essex County Council on a review of all its Special Schools and The Pioneer School is the first New Model Special School to be completed. BHP Architects are also part of the Skanska led BSF preferred bidder team for the £1billion Essex schools programme, which includes phase 2 of the Pioneer School.
