BHP Architects was appointed by the Royal National Institute for the Blind for the phased redevelopment of the Sunshine House School for children with complex multiple disabilities, who are blind or partially sighted.
The phased redevelopment provides specialist classrooms, a new School Hall, Therapy Room, Sensory Room, Soft Play Room, Library, Early Years Centre, Hydrotherapy Pool and residential accommodation. The new buildings are fully accessible, DDA compliant and have been designed to harmonise with the retained existing Edwardian house and its environs by the careful use of traditional materials.
