BHP Architects was appointed by Essex County Council to design and procure a new 210 pupil Primary School in Colchester .
The new 210 place Primary School opened in September 2009 and has the potential to expand to 330 places with additional Early Years and Childcare facilities. The project comprised the construction of a new primary school on a steeply sloping site adjacent to Colchester General Hospital. The primary school building accommodates six classrooms, main hall, community hall, staff workroom, office, associated staff and pupil's toilets, kitchen, one reception class, circulation and plant areas. The single storey building is a heavy mass structure providing excellent internal environmental conditions.
